Retirement Planning

Providing for a comfortable retirement is the single most important long-term financial goal of most Americans. Because people are living longer, healthier lives, some of us can plan to spend 20 - or even 30 or more – years in retirement.

We can begin your preparation by determining your retirement goals, risk tolerance and time horizon. Our variety of investment alternatives enables us to provide the most suitable tools to bring the retirement you dream of within your reach.

Whether retirement is fast approaching or years away, proper planning is essential to attain your goals. Have you considered….

  • Will I be financially ready for retirement?
  • Do I have specific retirement objectives?
  • Do I have a plan implemented to provide for my dream retirement?
  • Do I know how much money I may need?
  • Am I aware of the different types of plans available to me… and their benefits?
  • Do I understand the impact of inflation?

We provide objective information and unbiased guidance. Because we are not required to sell specific products, we have the freedom to help you select the investments that are right for you.

Sound investment decisions are based on facts and careful research, not emotions. However, we know it’s not always easy to make prudent choices, especially in an uncertain market. We can help you employ disciplined, long-term strategies that help protect against fluctuating economic conditions. Together, we’ll establish reasonable investment goals to stay the course.

We are prepared to help you implement a plan that will be the stepping stones to the retirement you’ve always envisioned. We will monitor and update the plan based upon changes in market conditions, the economy and your personal circumstances.

Long Term Care Planning

Americans are living longer these days, thanks to modern medicine, technology and healthier lifestyles. The most pressing financial concerns of many people tend to revolve around providing for their families, assuring adequate retirement income and preserving their estates for the future. However, few people consider what would happen to their families, themselves and the assets they have worked so hard to accumulate over the years if they were to require long-term care due to a prolonged illness or disability.

Long-term care provides for assistance with activities of daily living, otherwise known as “ADL’s.” ADL’s include bathing, dressing, toileting, continence, eating and transferring (such as getting from a bed into a chair). Long-term care can also include the care required due to conditions caused by dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke or head injury.

The longer you live, the greater the chances you'll need some form of long-term care. We can assist you in creating a strategy to protect your loved ones and your hard-earned assets from the high costs of long-term care. If you're concerned about protecting your assets and maintaining your financial independence in your later years, long-term care insurance (LTCI) may be for you.

Give yourself one less thing to worry about by taking steps now to make Long-term Care Insurance part of your comprehensive financial plan. Peggy Drees is a registered Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) dedicated to helping you make solid choices to position yourself for the uncertain times ahead.

Life Insurance Needs Planning

Utilization of life insurance will help provide for life goals such as business continuation or buyout, tax-advantaged inheritance, passing of a farm or business through family generations and satisfying debt in the event of death.

Whether you are seeking life insurance for the first time, or already have existing coverage, the help of a qualified consultant is important.

When it comes to life insurance planning, we are here for you. From determining the appropriate amount and type of coverage during all stages of life, to addressing dangers and concerns certain policies may be exposed to. Many consumers buy a policy and put it in a file and forget about it, assuming it will be there when needed. This could be devastating to your family or business. We find that 80% of policy owners never again see the agent that sold them the policy. It is recommended to review your policies at least every five years utilizing an in force illustration using current interest rates and insurance costs. Because of the low interest rate environment over the last 10 years many policies will not perform as originally illustrated. Life insurance company’s financial ratings also should be reviewed.

Our insurance professionals represent you, not the insurance companies. Come compare the difference this can mean for you or your business.

Disability Income Insurance

Could you continue to pay your bills if you were unable to work for any length of time because of illness or injury? If you were to become disabled, do you know how much money would be coming in each month and from what sources? Most people protect their car, house, and other possessions, but neglect to protect the most valuable asset they own: their power to generate income. Some people can rely on disability benefits from their employers and/or the government. But, for a great many people, income stops when work stops. Individual disability income insurance is designed to replace income when illness or injury stands in the way of earning a living. It helps protect against family financial catastrophe by giving you an income to meet daily expenses. We can work with you to ensure peace of mind and protect you from the unexpected.

Estate Planning

Estate Planning allows you to ensure that in the event of your death your property will go to the beneficiaries you choose, when and how you want it to. Proper planning can help you to save money on taxes, court costs and attorneys’ fees. It gives you the comfort of knowing that your loved ones can mourn your loss without the burden of unnecessary financial confusion and burden. We can work with you and other key professionals, such as your attorney or tax consultant, to give you the peace of mind knowing that the assets you’ve worked a lifetime to accumulate will be protected, and your wishes for your heirs fulfilled.

College Planning

With the rising college tuition rates, it is essential to have a plan. Although it is best to start the college investment process when your child or grandchild is young, it is never too late to begin. Many alternatives exist today to fund college education. Some options even have tax benefits. We will work with you to design a college savings plan to suit your needs.

Investment Consulting

One thing remains certain when investing: uncertainty. It’s what makes investing so difficult emotionally. While the long-term performance of equity markets has historically been a steady up trend, short-term direction is always unpredictable. Amid all of this misgiving about the market’s course, what should investors do?

Build a well-diversified portfolio where different sectors will complement each other and may not always move in the same direction at the same time. It should comprise cash equivalents, bonds, equities, and real estate and tangibles. We will help determine how much weighting to give each category and how to sub-allocate within your personal time horizon and risk tolerance. We provide ongoing guidance and monitoring of your investment portfolio utilizing top of the line investments. Because we are not required to sell specific products, we have the freedom to help you select the investments that are right for you.
